all used up
-The plight of immigrants in the USA, supposedly the home of the, “free and brave”
the best advice is to ignore them
It’s not us, it’s not me, who really cares,
It’s so far away, millions of miles from my TV, my phone screen, my home
Americans, lift up your eyes to the world beyond your own skin
The immigrants of your ancestors are being used as used-up newspaper, churned and made into a fake media machine
All chewed up into your neatly folded clothes, so inconvenient
To notice under the layers of your manufactured problems
All used up in a televised ceremony of fashion, farce and dead lies
Dead lies that taste like stale cotton candy
Hey, at least you got to go to the fair
They didn’t come after you yet so
Used-up people can make the glue for your pretend fancies.

So dark and angry - I love it Melissa! Well done!
This was so cutting, as it should be. Brilliance, Melissa.
It’s amazing how cold society can be to groups of people they deem as unworthy. We talk about the used up as if they aren’t real people who breathe and feel just like we do
The devastation was so palpable. Truly heartbreaking
Consider that to those who are making these decisions & doing these things, we are every bit as foreign as any one of their current victims.
Painfully true!
I read something online that brought your piece home to me: "If you want to know what you would do during slavery, Jim Crow or the Holocaust, just look at what you are doing right now".
Speak the truth and shame the devil Melly G! Great job in calling em' out! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾💪🏾🫶🏾🌸
