What Became of the Dream
A pantoum about forgotten dreams and quiet reflections.
I had a dream, but it quickly faded.
I wonder how I got here.
The road ahead feels dimly shaded,
Lit only by a flicker of fear.
I wonder how I got here
With calloused feet and stories untold.
Lit only by a flicker of fear,
My youth now traded in for gold.
With calloused feet and stories untold,
I trace the cracks in the mirror’s glaze.
My youth now traded in for gold
Lost in the soft collapse of days.
I trace the cracks in the mirror’s glaze,
The road ahead feels dimly shaded.
Lost in the soft collapse of days,
I had a dream, but it quickly faded.

I'm not great at poetry, so maybe my opinion means very little. But I love this 💜
A delightful pantoum!🤗💖 Very smooth progression. I especially like:🤩 “ I trace the cracks in the mirror’s glaze. My youth now traded in for gold.” (Sounds like me!)
Really good poem and the format elevates it even more
Well-wrought! The lyrical nature of this was enchanting and wrapped up perfectly with the last line!
Very beautiful and thoughtful poem. Deep!!
Oh I FELT this. Loved it.
Your words paint a vivid picture of reflection and the passage of time. It's a poignant reminder that our journeys shape us, even when the path feels uncertain. Beautifully written!
exactly 💯
I especially loved the repeating lines. It reminded me of a Villanelle. Loved it!
With calloused feet and stories untold. Lit only by a flicker of fear, My youth now traded in for gold. This is fantastic! Great writing
