Welsh Costumes
This poem a challenge. Dedicated to my friend Paul

Welsh Costumes
where stories bloom,
Welsh costumes shine,
dispelling gloom.
Bright red skirts
that twirl and sway,
crimson tops
welcoming day.
Garments of Welsh wool,
warm and snug,
capes that drape
like a gentle hug.
Bonnets worn under hats,
a sweet touch,
frills softly peeking,
adding so much.
Men and boys
in waistcoats neat,
knee-height trousers,
long socks on feet.
Clogs that echo,
a joyful sound,
dancing through valleys,
laughter around.
Each piece tells a tale
of love and pride,
heritage woven,
where hearts abide.
Hats so tall,
reaching the sky,
Welsh traditions,
they never die.
Through ages they wear
these styles with cheer,
in crimson and lace,
our roots are clear.
From red skirts to clogs,
we proudly stand,
with the heart of Wales
held close in hand.
Now modern dress takes over,
Yet still some old one’s still stay
keeping tradition alive,
in their own ways.

A beautiful poem describing a culture and one that I am a part for I have Welsh blood in me. I was told that there could still be some of my relatives still alive in Wales.
Such a beautiful poem. I'm sure Paul would have loved it!
Your poem beautifully captures the timeless spirit of Welsh heritage through vibrant imagery. The description of traditional Welsh costumes, from red skirts to knee-high trousers, evokes a sense of pride and connection to history. I especially appreciate how you highlight the resilience of these traditions, even as modernity progresses. It’s a reminder of the enduring nature of cultural identity, beautifully woven into each piece of clothing. The closing lines perfectly illustrate how tradition remains alive in different forms. Well done!
