I've never formally met you

Yet, somehow I know you

I've met you from afar

Through musical talents

And electronic journals

Through the common use of "avoidance"

And the ponderings of secrets buried so deep

I've never shaken your hand

Yet, I'd know your voice anywhere

Smart and intelligent

Caring and passionate

We are joined by many commonalities

And we are both too hard on ourselves

Lingering in the "list" of life goals

Feeling strange by normal standards

I've never said hello

But I know your face

I recognize the smile

The happy-go-lucky persona

The "quirks" you try to hide

And how you try not to run from yourself

I've never met you

But I know you

Because deep down, you are like me
