Weave me a Lie

Abandonment and the stories that we tell ourselves to make it hurt less.

By Alicia AnspaughPublished about a month ago 1 min read

Weaver, Storyteller, weave me a lie

Tell me a story, tell me a lie

Tell me a story, a tale to make my heart light

Tell me they loved me, tell me they had to leave me

Tell me they had no choice

Sing me a lie with your beautiful voice

Weave me a pretty lie

Convince me that it wasn't me, that its not my fault

It was all their fault; they had no choice

Sing me a tale of a happy life

One where people don't leave, and love has no price

Weaver so talented, weave me a lie

Tell me a story, tell me a lie, tell me anything

Anything that means they didn't say goodbye

Weaver, weave me a pretty lie

Storyteller, Weaver of tales, make me happy

Please tell me a pretty lie, one where I'm happy & nobody ever said goodbye

Even if you are only in my mind, tell me a story

Weaver, Weave me a lie

How much I want to wash you. Give me a sweet lie — because only bitter truths we taste. Thank you. :)
