Weaponized Fears And Exploited Emotions

Based On Music By Hozier (Take Me To Church)

By Kelli Sheckler-AmsdenPublished 5 months ago Updated 5 months ago 1 min read
Noir Art

Held in a holster

Strapped tightly to your side

Another imposter

With insecurities to hide

A poser of emotions

Trying to feel as I should

A sinking ship on the ocean

Compiled of rotting wood

We acknowledge oppression

Though not caught under its weight

Neatly learning the lessons

Others have, fueled by hate

Ignorance builds a pogrom

Shadowing our differences

Another targeted ticking bomb

Aided by indifference

A one way street, with a dead end

Once you’re in, no way out

A different face playing pretend

Evil thoughts said out loud

The world screams out for mercy

To masses with no ears to hear

Playing at judge and jury

Capitalizing on fear

If we want to make changes

It’s time that we “go to church “

Help fix the broken in stages

Beginning with ourselves first

One for the great pot, Kellie. I really like these lines, so true: "The world screams out for mercy To masses with no ears to hear Playing at judge and jury Capitalizing on fear"

💖Love the last two lines, Kelli
