We stayed

Summer's day

By Anika Mustafiz (Imagine Violet)Published 5 years ago 1 min read

My love for you never fades; I await the summer days.

I yearn for my feet to be welcomed by grass; sunlight dancing on my skin.

Melanin deepening like coffee with a few drops of milk.

How I lust for you, laughter and floral scents carried by the breeze.

Your smile is like sunshine, but on this warm summer day I will break your heart.

We sit across from each other; How beautiful your hair falls

Like seasons we change, in love and out we fall.

We hold each other’s hands as the tears trickle down; the heat has driven us under a tree that made not one sound.

You vowed you would not let go of me; together we would shine

That the timing is not wrong; the timing is divine

Because as summer comes and goes, the one thing we would find

Is even though seasons change, so can our minds

So even if we fall in and out, we can choose to stay

That our love has not wilted, so we can blossom everyday
