I used to say, what you sees' what you get

But to tell you the truth, that's a lie

If we knew the truth of every person we met

What you'd see might take you by surprise

*

Now, I'm not being crass

Because sometimes we don't mean it

But to hide being an ass

We pretend, more than a wee bit

*

What face we choose to wear

And the vibes that come connected

Depends on who, when and where

And what moods are affected

*

It's a torrid affair

To keep those folks objective

Unsure and unaware

To keep from being rejected

*

One for the neighbor

Another for the priest

And it's an all out war

On the one we like least

*

We have the, behind the keyboard, Karen

The couch quarterback and police

The one we wear when we're swearin'

The one, when we're feelin' nice

*

The road rage warrior on the highway

The one cracking the whip

The one, depending on the day

We kiss our mothers with

*

It could change in a moment

It could change on a dime

But to be my best proponent

We all do it, ALL of the time

*

So, if you're feeling adventurous

Show me yours and I'll show mine

But from my point of reference

I think the real you...is just fine

Masks appropriate for the crowd and the occasion. Nicely done, Kelli
