We Don’t Talk Anymore

It’s So Funny

Baby we don’t talk no more

Not like the way we used to talk

Conversations - like a silent-war

Getting blind sided and set up

*

Guards are up on high alert

Can’t trust a single thing you say

You don’t ask about me anymore

I feel I’m always in the way

*

In separate rooms, we sleep alone

Disconnected, we survive

We used to crave the other’s company

Now we play pretend - to stay alive

*

I miss the you I thought you were

I miss the same about me too

When we were we, even if make believe

When we were fond of me and you

*

No, baby we don’t talk much anymore

Just strangers passing on the street

The words we speak - sterile and safe

Keeping our disconnect- complete

slam poetry

"Keeping our disconnect-complete." Words with a bang that sounds realistically possible.

Sad and relatable, at least some measure of peace was found at the end. Thank you for sharing!
