We Are Mere Guests

Nothing remains constant

By Seema PatelPublished 7 months ago 1 min read
The new house we had moved in, during the lockdown @Seema

When we moved into,

this empty house,

during the pandemic,

it was brand new.

We brought our things,

with our squabbles,

kids’ cries and giggles,

footfalls of guests,

we made it a home.

@Seema

Before that,

it was chaparral,

maybe oaks and sycamores,

stood here,

and wildlife thrived.

Before that,

it was covered by

a shallow ocean,

as I see evidence,

of marine fossils.

Nothing stays constant,

what we see now,

was very different,

others used to roam,

they called it home.

We are just passing by,

spending some time

in this guesthouse 'Earth'.

We better embrace,

good etiquette and harmony,

and make the most

of our brief stint.
