White as my mothers and fathers before me.

White as the snow so deep and cold.

Within my skin lies my connection.

My link to friends who are said to be of "color".

Red is my embarrassment for treatment unfair.

Green is my sickness at the naming of something so small.

Blue from the coldness of hearts that are unfeeling.

Brown are the stains of human unkindness.

Red is our fire of metamorphosis.

Green is our growth of transformation.

Blue is our compassion and trust that we will be different.

Brown is the dirt under our feet from roads of change.

Let us strengthen our eyes to see,

Not the difference, but the connection that lies between.

Let us build a world of kindness and love.

A world where we don't feel the need to be the SAME.
