Waves

A poem

The tides rise like my hopes

Crashing against rocks

Kissing the surface of earth in humble waves

I too gravitate towards the moon

A magnetic push and pull of limbs

Never sure whether to stay or go

The water moves with me

Waiting for you

Unrequited lust never felt so good

Until the bitterness bled out from you

The wind gave way to your pleas

Carried you away from me

My desires linger in the air

But the stars no longer linger in the sky

The water moves against me now

Trying to get back to you

The tides fall like my hopes

Crashing against rocks

Hitting the surface of earth in ignoble waves

I too gravitate towards the moon

heartbreak
