I take each note of crisp summer as I am pelting my brain with forgotten things I want to remember

The watermelon crushes my heart into a million pieces of cold, sticky, sweet, tender flesh

Why does each bite sink into my soul like a ethereal feeling

Watermelon, oh how you taunt me, how can something so refreshing and sweet make me feel so intensely?

Each bite (fishing for hours in hot summer sun with my dad)

Each bite (longing to swim at a pool with someone that loves me)

Each bite (long car rides and cassette tapes)

Each bite (friends that order a single pizza for all of us to share, $5.00 each)

Each (Lonely, feeling oh so lonely)

Bite (crisp, sweet, crying watermelon)

I love this. You've made me look at watermelon in a different light. It brings back lots of childhood memories for me!

  • I wasn’t expecting that, what a turn! Watermelon usually gives certain imagery but it went to a nostalgic place, mingling the pleasant with the sad and missing days in the past. That was great work!
