Watch Your Mouth

A poem about rumors and nonsense

By savage writerPublished 7 years ago 1 min read
Be careful of which tree you cut down in someone else's backyard. hat same tree could fall on you.

If you don’t know me

If you never met me

If you only heard about me

through word-of-mouth

And underwhelming tabloids

Or better yet

Some preposterous rumors which

have never been validated

Then, you better not come crazy

Talking all that nonsense

Slandering my character

Undermining my beliefs and achievements

Using my problems as an excuse

To make me public enemy number one

Or to label me this monster broken beyond repair

Maybe that phrase is too commonly used

But do I care

No, this is my writing

Not yours

I will say whatever I wanna

You better watch your mouth

when you talk about me

Even if you know me

You still don’t know me

You don’t know what it took to get here

Just for you to talk a bunch of nonsense

You don’t know how much discomfort

I put myself through just so I can have this body

You don’t know how many tireless nights and days

It took to write so many books

The books you criticize

For lack of professionalism

Because I use slang too much

or because i type my sentences in lowercase

What about the content matter

Do you sit up here and burn my book

Because I said something you ain’t like

You still bought it anyway

So who really took the L

Are you mad at me?

That’s too bad

Get over it

Read something else

If you don’t like what I got to say
