Wardrobe Deep Cuts

The forgotten attire that hangs in the back

Pushed back to the furthest reaches of my wardrobe

Tucked away, behind frequently worn t-shirts

and heavily worn denims

hangs the pieces of attire

Rarely used and unnoticed

the deep cuts of my wardrobe long since forgotten

A sleek red cocktail dress hung with feminine elegance

waiting to be worn on a perfect day that may or may not come

the next party invite, the next Saturday night date

Tucked behind that is another wardrobe deep cut

A two toned colored blouse I fondly remember

One that resulted in compliments and confidence

A blouse that once fit my curves perfectly, now not so much

hung in the back,

unable to let go just in case

A long forgotten cardigan only purchased on impulse

Feeling the fabric and trying it on, I swore I'd wear it more than once

A cardigan pushed to the back

for the habit of familiarity

of sweaters and sweatshirts frequently worn

Long since forgotten, hung in the back

are the deep cuts of my wardrobe

The attire I promised I'd wear again when the occasion is right

I have some similar things. Your poetry brings to mind that at 71, it may be time to let some things go. Thank you!❤️

Nicely-written! I better dig through and find some of my deep cut wardrobe pieces to restyle and rewear! Thx 4 the inspiration! 🌸

Such an interesting and fascinating look at the things we push back!

This speaks to me. I have piles of shirts I cannot give up...and cannot really wear (they just don't seem right for me when I put them on).
