You live a life surrounded by walls
built up, up, up around you as high as you could go.
You bring me in when it gets lonely
when you feel hopeful
when the shadows recede
just to throw me over the edge to the other side again later,
when the insecurity seeps in and the fear of potential loss creeps back.
All of a sudden, they're behind you,
climbed right up your walls and slithered down over you again,
and all of a sudden, I'm alone —
spared a broken neck with a view of bricks and an empty landscape otherwise.
Where will I go now?
And where did you think I was going when I had the option to stay?

Powerful last line. It felt very personal. Congratulations
Gorgeous poem
well done
What a lingering poem. Well done.
This poem has deeply moved me, especially this line of yours: "When insecurity takes root and the fear of potential harm returns." It beautifully highlights the fragile state of emotional security, where one feels hopeful, but then suddenly becomes engulfed by insecurity and fear. This is a highly impactful depiction of the instability and internal conflict of emotions. It is undoubtedly a masterpiece from a wonderful poet.
Truly heartbreaking...the emotions are brought out in such a creative way. Job well done!
Great questions to end with! It's sad when people use us to appease their own emotional state but don't really care about ours.
