Walls

Waiting on the other side

By Michael Ellington Henry JamesPublished 4 years ago 1 min read

I met her a while ago

She rarely spoke but her loud silence

She told me who she was

Never Showed me her spirit

Never showed weakness

And yet

I understood her clearly

She was strong but tired

Atlas carried the world

She carried the universe

Her actions showed guarded love

Like a fighter poking flowers

Behind a spiked shield

She carries herself with the grace and beauty of a swan

And remains ready to take flight like a hawk

And she has the most beautiful soul God made

Yet the world has put shreds of darkness in her

And thus an impenetrable defense was born

But she showed me her true self

To an extent

I know what lies beneath the shell

I think

Seeing her with a certainty

Is a mirror of whom i strive to be

A poster for my hopes

But i am cursed to have open wounds

Till the day I die

Everyone will see my pain

And choose to either laugh or cry at my pain

But she is different

She will face that same choice

Except she will shoulder the universe once more

And not once she will complain

I met this girl a while ago

And I felt as if she had walls up

Execpt for the people she loved and loved her unconditionally

She picks and chooses whom she graces her light around

That type of defense i understand

This world took mines one too many times

And i would do whatever to get it back

She understands the value of patience

And seeks for someone who understands her language

So she doesn't spend a lifetime translating her soul

She is a source of inspiration for me

And one whom i truly admire

It is my wish to see her happy and whole

Free of the chains slowing her progress

Able to show her love freely

So ill stay and wait

For the day when she feels a warm brightness again

For her to come out her armor

Even if its for a moment

Just to grace an undeserving soul

With the beauty of her presence
