Waking up

Happiness a close distant friend I once knew so well

Sadness, a constant companion that eats at my soul

Why start the day

Days become weeks become months become nothing

No point getting ready, when nothing is something

Drown the sorrow

Start again tomorrow

Try to move forward, dull out all the pain

Alcohol and porn, don't wash away the stain

Always stay the same

What a bloody shame

*

Waking up

Happiness may be eluding me for now, but that's okay

Sadness, is the companion I need to work with today

I'll try to get up

Break up the monotony, fill my time with self-care

Try and have a shower or bath, wash my body and hair

Sit in all the sorrow

I'll be better tomorrow

Make plans, to work through the pain

Sleep, water, and walk down the lane?

Time for a change

Goals to arrange

Brought here by the book again :) I love the realisticness of this, how it is inspiring without being invalidating. This is the kind of reassurance we need in poetry. Thank you Paul

'Sit in all the sorrow - I'll be better tomorrow' is a beautifully healthy sentiment! Nicely done Paul. Emotional care is so important!

Goals to arrange! Yes! I liked this last night and then feel asleep literally! I like second half of this particularly. What one has to “work with” at the time, as non acceptance just makes things a hell of a lot harder. 😊

  • The first half was so sad but I'm so happy you wrote the second half! Loved your poem Sir Paul! 🍩🥐

  • Quite honestly, it depends on the day. Often it's a bit of a mixture.

I've been there. And there. Yeah, there, too... Trying to stay in that zone now. Well written, Paul!

🌅 A poignant journey of resilience and self-discovery beautifully captured in two perspectives. The shift from despair to embracing the struggle and seeking positive change is both relatable and inspiring. 🌈💪

I could identify so much with your words. Wonderfully expressed :)

Know this feeling! Motivating ending though! Way to kick me out of my slump! Thank you!

Weird thing is, I just woke up from sleep. So this was a good motivator to actually get up and do something. Hope all is well, my friend. Loved the poem. The rhyme arrangement was clever.

I wake up and meditate for a positive and productive day. I try not to llet my feelings or emotions take control of my mood. Its hard sometimes so I surround myself with positive and uplifting things

  • Pertinent words Paul

I love this. So familiar. Reading the first half, I wanted you to write the poem that was the second half - and then you had, and so well, too.
