Waiting for Willy

A poem

By Jamye SharpPublished about a year ago 1 min read

You’ve gone away now,

All I can think of is your face,

The games we played,

The snuggled conversations,

Light of your dark brown eyes,

Quiet sigh in my night,

But I will wait,

A good boy to the end,

Each day is longer than last,

Little wolf had gone,

Looking out my window,

Waiting for Willy

    Aw 😊👏This one feels symbolic.

I love how you showed us how hard it is to believe that Willy is gone, that you wrote ‘but I will wait’. This brought the poem to another level and made it that much more painful to digest. Thank you for writing this, I can’t leave my house without my necklace that has our dogs name and his ashes in it, I don’t think I will ever be able to.

So heartwrenching. My dog is 10 now, and my heart aches for the day I will have to say goodbye to him—I don’t know how I’m going to handle it. Pets are lifesavers, and we are truly undeserving of our babies.
