Waiting for the Eclipse

I just wrote this to help me work through some emotions with someone I've been seeing the last couple years. Sometimes you know it isn't meant to be what you usually have, yet you find satisfaction in the lack of convention.

You are the moon

And I am the sun

Though we remain separate

Our dance is one

Split between the same sky

With opposite realities

Both part of one journey

Night exists to recognize day

And just as daylight gives breath to night

I breathe you out

Hold on to the plight

Propelled to each end

What repels us keeps us together

Gravity deep and entangled

Quantum unity

In the dual nature of our love

Goodnight, my moon, hope the night sky treats you well

I'll be sleeping quite softly while you rage and rebel

When I wake at the first crack of dawn, you'll be gone

Though sometimes I still see you peeking out

Far beyond your bedtime of 6am

And though we both cherish the moments

Where we get to show others that we share the sky

We know deep down we lead two separate lives

Day

Night

We are opposites which collide
