Voices of Color

Colors speaking

By Dana BrouillettePublished 5 years ago 1 min read
Voices of color

As my eyes have become adjusted to the darkness, silence has become a way of life.

I call out to anyone that will hear, and a shimmering dim light speaks to me

I can show you the way out, it whispered. Looking around and seeing no one, I close my eyes to find darkness.

When I open them, a bright yellow light, yells at me. Are you listening?? Still, no one. I close my eyes to darkness.

Once again, my eyes open to a floodlight of massive color, screaming, I am here for you.

Oh, I thought, the mind is a place of trickery! Let’s play!

I answered the light, as the colors swirled around creating new colors within themselves. I wanted that ability!

I threw myself into the brightest color and swam in it as a dolphin swims on waves. It was a mixture of sounds.

I grew weary but tried to hold on to the sounds of the colors. They were familiar to me.

When I could go no more, I closed my eyes to return to the darkness, only there was no more darkness.

The brightness of this light was blinding but peaceful and was full of whispers in many tones. Not as colorful but I was drawn in by the intriguing sounds it made.

I drifted away and when I finally realized where I was, I knew God had produced all the brilliant lights and voices.

I was safe at home!
