Retracing Steps

We're only here for a short time

life keeps pushing past

Ain't no way we can rewind

time on this visitors badge

Cause the lines on my face

match the cracks in the floor

no matter how hard I trace

they won't smooth out no more

I've reached the otherside

of the middle-aged door

Pour something with a lime

that reaches down to my core

Cause you can't change the past

there are no revolving doors

Sweep me away like the glass

on this old bar room floor

But don't count me as trash

Though I may be battered and torn

Like the Phoenix in ash

I'll rise better than before

Out on life's boulevard

nothing ever comes easy

Even though things get hard

they'll never be tougher than me

Luffy brought me to this amazing piece of work. Beautiful piece. Makes you appreciate a colorful sunset.

  • I believe you, Kelli. I believe you. You've been through enough already to suggest rather strongly that attempting to cross you would probably be a bad idea. (And I greatly admire you for that.)

You will live forever in body, mind and spirit even if the body does give out first. Good job.

  • The phoenix returneth! Great work, Kelli.
