Vida is a Dulce Sueño

Maravillosa tierra

Sol shines, peering

Through gris nubes,

Spreading esperanza.

The lluvia drenches

The suelo reseco,

Makes hierba grow,

Silvestres flores bloom.

Pájaros sing canciones,

Mariposas flutter alas.

Árboles stand altos,

Give us sombra and frutas.

Vida es un dulce sueño,

Savor it to the fullest.

English translation:

Life is a sweet dream

The sun shines, peering through gray clouds, spreading hope. The rain drenches the dry soil, making the grass grow and wildflowers bloom. Birds sing their songs, and butterflies flutter their wings. Trees stand tall, offering shade and fruit. Life is a sweet dream—savor it to the fullest.

I got the idea to write this English-Spanish bilingual poem as I saw my 5-year-old daughter’s painting.
