Thanks for reading!

Author's Notes: So, this is for Gabriel's "Lost-ish" Unofficial Poetry Challenge. Story behind it is that I was reading Silver Daux's recent Subverted poem, which is awesome, and was staring too long at the word subverted. From there the idea flowed and I was thinking about time signatures and then the song Money by Pink Floyd. That song is incidentally in the 7/4 time signature, which musicians will often count

7/4 is a time signature in music that consists of seven beats per measure. It's considered an odd time signature because it's not counted like the more common 4/4 time.

You count the beats as "1-2-3-4-5-6-7"

Break the beats up into "1-2-3-4 1-2-3" or "1-2-3 1-2-3-4"

That is a lot of information to explain the numbers in the poem and the number of words per line. There are some Pink Floyd easter eggs too.

You're welcome.

Oh, and here is a link to the song:

Definitely succeeded in losing me… which isn’t that hard 😵‍💫🤣! I enjoyed the song & time signature. Reminded me of The Beatles’ “All You Need Is Love”… I never managed to sing it in time 🥺.

BRILLIANT, PAUL! Can't believe I'm just getting to this now- what a wildly clever and eclectically stellar piece you've made! I love the rhythm to it, I felt I could hear a growling bass line and thumping 7/4 beat the whole time...an absolutely awesome take on the challenge. Thanks again for joining in the fun, Paul! :)

Man, I wish that was all the inspiration it took for me to get a good thing going! Definitely over my head a little with the Pink Floyd references, but I enjoyed it all the same!

    Geez. 😅

  • Oh wow, you lost me. Lol see what I did there? Hahahahahaha. Loved your poem! Also, I should try staring at a word too long to see if I can get inspired like you did hehehehe

This is hypnotic, Paul. A revelation on how one might turn the music of poetry into a rhythmic beat!

I was hoping my Pink Floyd vibes were not misplaced, thank you for indulging them

This was fun! Best read while listening to Pink Floyd. I'm glad I (but really the odd little word "subverted") could lead you to this. Loved it!
