Vanilla Lies

once the scent and aftertaste disappears - a nonet

I loved vanilla; the scent, the taste

and the feel of it on my skin.

You knew that so you dipped words

in it, overwhelming

me and leaving me

blind to all the

lies. Now I

despise

it.

There are many things I've loved that I've grown to hate because people spoiled them for me. Loved your Nonet!

“You knew that so you dipped words in it” is such a great line! Love how the affection for the scent turning into disdain parallels the relationship dynamic

Very nice. Makes me smell vanilla as I read it. Also makes me think of a vanilla perfume a woman I knew wore. It was initially interesting, kind of intriguing, but after a short time, the woman and the perfume both made me want to vomit and now I'm permanently soured on both.
