Piled in a corner
Of old neglected warehouse
Pieces of my soul

Stacked like wooden crates
Stored away for when needed
Lying forgotten

Childhood memories
Dusty, covered in cobwebs
Neglected for years

Now, decades later
Arthritic hands pry them loose
Sift old memory

Tired eyes look close
Separate wheat from the chaff
Relive bygone days

Old halcyon times
Bringing a smile to my face
Bad times set aside

At last one last box
Seven feet long, four feet wide
Climb in, lie down… sleep

New generations
My memory will unpack
On some future day
