Universal Constants
Such as your love

Every particle comes with a twin—
born in collision, unmade in spin.
Tangled tight, then pulled apart,
one to flesh, one to dark.
-
The universe is built on separation.
And so is your love.
-
A hypershape too vast for time to hold,
and too strange for space to mold.
A thing that doesn’t fit,
folded, stretched, distorted thin—
a rupture, a burst,
a fuck-you to silence,
a hunger reversed.
-
The universe is built on combustion.
And so is your love.
-
What was once one, remains as one,
though torn, though spun, though flung undone.
That’s what entanglement is—
what was kissed, remains kissed.
The whisper that lingers in an empty bed,
the weight of a body no longer there.
Your hands on my hips,
your mouth in my hair.
Touch me across a million miles,
or let me burn, but don’t leave me bare.
-
The universe is built on connection.
And so is your love.
-
And when you engulf me—
we fold space, we bend time,
we are the singularity before the bang.
Your pulse against mine,
spinning faster, colliding,
the heat death of restraint.
You fill me up, a universe expanding,
gasps turning to stars,
collapse into light.
I shatter,
you catch me,
a body caught in gravity’s arms.
-
The universe is built on attraction.
And so is your love.
-
It takes eons to form,
seconds to shatter.
And the cosmos spends more time dead
than alive.
We mistake the distance for infinity,
but it always ends in a grave.
Like your father and mother,
who couldn’t lie together in life,
nor in death,
because love burns hot,
but spite burns hotter.
-
The universe is built on entropy.
And so is your love.
-
You are alone, with our daughter away.
I am alone here, where I must stay,
as doctors take pieces of me,
slice by slice,
watch them smolder,
see if they ignite.
Will I vanish to dust?
Or am I still made of mass?
A body unmade,
or a love built to last?
-
I hope I don’t burn.
I hope this is over soon.
I hope against hope for forever.
-
Because the universe is built on hope.
And so is your love.

About the Creator
Iris Obscura
Do I come across as crass?
Do you find me base?
Am I an intellectual?
Or an effed-up idiot savant spewing nonsense, like... *beep*
Is this even funny?
I suppose not. But, then again, why not?

Powerfully penned!!! Perfect last line!!! Yes, love is hope!!!
Cosmic writing. Bigger than the stardust inside, these words and the pictures you painted were intoxicating. If I could give this more than one heart, I would.
Thank you for sharing this impactful piece.
