Uninclined To Cling
Letting Go Of The Anxiously Attached Lover
He clung to me
so I had to let go
*
I need air to breathe
A loose grip on love
*
Not the noose he tried
to tie around my throat
*
Possessiveness isn't love
It's the inability
to escape deep insecurities
*
He was insecure
Something I felt
within his vibration
Something I heard
underneath his words
*
He wanted more
than I was offering
so I had to go my own way
*
I refuse to be smothered
by someone’s low self-worth
*
I need my freedom to grow
My freedom to be with myself
*
Even if I was inclined
to be more than his friend
Even if I was inclined
to fall in love with him
I am uninclined to cling
*
I require a lover that can cling to my body
without clinging to every moment of my being
*
Even in a committed relationship
I still need my freedom
to be wholly in my bones
I need my time to be alone
because I'm holy on my own
*
I had to let him go
because codependency
is unattractive to me
I had to let him go
because I am a bonafide lover
that values her independency
*
I have love that builds mountains
but even stone moves eventually
I require my need to be free
*
Dynamically open to changes
To metamorphose
what was into what could be
*
I require a love of which The Prophet speaks
a moving ocean between where the shores of our souls meet
