Empty pockets, empty days,
No work to fill my time,
A constant ache in my heart,
A future that's not mine.
No money coming in,
No hope for a new job,
Just endless hours to sit and spin,
And a heart that's full of sobs.
No laughter, no friends,
No light to guide the way,
Just a lonely heart that bends,
And a future that's astray.
But I'll keep searching, keep trying,
For a way to break the chain,
For a glimmer of hope shining,
And a future without pain.
I'll keep my head held high,
Though the world may bring me low,
I'll keep my spirits bright,
Though the path may be slow.
I'll keep my eyes on the prize,
Though the road may be long,
I'll keep my faith alive,
Though the journey may be strong.
For I know that better days,
Are waiting just ahead,
And I'll keep moving forward,
Till I find a way to shed.
This jobless state, this empty fate,
And take control of my life,
For I know that with hard work,
And a little luck and strive
I'll find a job, and start anew,
And leave this jobless state behind,
And I'll look back and smile,
At the struggles I had to find.
