Undone, But Not Defeated
A faith-driven poem about standing firm in a world unraveling.
I'm undone.
I can't believe what
we've become—
a world that bows
beneath the gun,
to fascist thrones
and altars spun
for gods of greed,
not the Holy One.
I've become
someone I don’t
recognize—
hypnotized
by prophets’ lies
and clear blue
poison skies.
But I’ve won—
because I believe
in the King of Kings,
who split the sea,
the God of Moses,
Abraham's flame,
Yahweh—holy
is His name.
I’m ready
for the next attack.
I’ve been undone—
but I won’t
turn back.
Author’s Note:
This piece poured out of me during a moment of grief, anger, and conviction. The world often feels like it's unraveling, and I sometimes lose sight of who I am in it. But my faith in Yahweh—the God of Abraham and Moses—anchors me when everything else shakes. This is my reminder to myself and anyone else feeling undone: there’s still victory in knowing who holds your soul.

Love this Carolina. The self-awareness and recognition of where our world is at, and the profession of what you hold dear. "to fascist thrones and altars spun"- a neat little contrast with the later "King of Kings"👏
Amen! Carolina! Excellent work!
Beautiful…!!! Keep on letting your soul shine with life!
Reminding ourselves who has ultimate sovereignty is the only true source of comfort. I loved this poem so much, Carolina! Beautiful statement of faith in an incredible God!
Well said, and thanks for sharing. There are so many who feel the same, but unfortunately, those who support the madness make a much bigger noise and currently have more sway.
This felt so reassuring and uplifting. Loved your poem!
Thank you for sharing something so personal and grounding.
Amen! I am so blessed reading this! Thank you!
Brave! Love it
