Under The Pear Tree With Me
Dance underneath the pear tree,
Dancing so innocent and splendidly, thoughts of you and thoughts of me, dancing underneath that pear tree.
So innocent and so young, times were that of ours. We would relax and do what lovers do. Sitting with each other by the great tall tree, laughing and having fun. Those days are gone and just a fleeting memory.
I remember when my skin was soft to the touch, not old and lined like it is now. My eyes of blue cannot see the way they use to. My hair has now greyed. Some memories have faded, but thoughts keep coming back to you.
I sit by the window of the rest home, I see outside the Pear Tree. How fondness and memories come flooding back at me.
I was youthful then, my first glance at you, I couldn’t pretend the love I felt for you all those years ago.
You held my hand and I thought you would never let go. I thought time would stand still. But years rolled on by, the winters and seasons have come to past. Thinking we would be young forever, how I wish it would last.
We grew older, got married and have some kids, How life seemed to be total bliss,
Your number was called my dear and your time was up. I held your hand and prayed you would never give up.. “hold on my dear I would whisper, even if its just for one more day, please don’t go, don’t go away.”
The angels came and took you, I watched you take your last breath. I cried beside you.. I took it hard, harder than I ever could imagine.
Our bodies crumble, they’ve almost turned to dust. I’m so old and alone now. Our children grew up and they moved away, I’m too old to do anything but pray, everyday I wish you were near me, I wish I could see your face again. The man you were and still are to me. No one listens to me in this place. I feel like an inconvenience and out of place.
I look on down at my hands, how wrinkled and with spots. I shed a tear, and look back at the window, starring at The Pear Tree and I can see me dancing and spinning like I did whenever I was close to you on “our spot”
Life seems to go fast, it didn’t slow down. I long for you to be around. I miss your embrace and your sweet loving face. I cry a little more and look up to the skies of blue wondering where you are now.
I closed my eyes for a moment and I could see you behind the sadness of my eyes. To my surprise you went to grab my hand. I love you, my loving man. My dreams are the best when you’re in them.
My heart seems to get faint, my breathing does too. You have come to take me with you. I hear the nurses and staff come to check on me, it’s my time to go now, nothing they can do. You my love have finally called me with you.
I hold your hand like I use to. You’re a young man again. Your smile that set my heart aflame is smiling at me once again. Death can be a sweet release, I am finally at peace.
I am with you. Together we shall forever dance and sway under that great tall pear tree. Together at peace for all eternity.
I love you my love.
