Undeniable truth

Embracing life and living it, because despite all, I don't know how long she will be alive for.

What’s the definition of uncommon?

To me, it’s something unusual for everybody, rare, but also, not so.

I wonder all the time,

Why of all people, was it her?

Such a beautiful soul,

innocent, afraid of the world

Why not me?

Out of all of us,

I just tend to ask, why?

at an unimaginable time,

Young little girl,

I can't stop thinking,

Why, why, why.

A terrible misfortune,

a cancerous life.

My heart breaks,

all the pain,

all the suffering,

all the late hospital runs,

all the sleepless nights,

the kids that fight over this,

and the ones that don't survive.

One undeniable truth,

one terrible experience,

the one thing that never crossed my mind,

trauma runs in my last name now.

I now understand,

why these illnesses do not have a face,

until it happens to someone of your own blood.

Now I realize,

how rare it felt,

to see my little sister have her childhood consumed,

by a horrendous disease.

To have to think she may not be alive for long,

to realize, she could get downfalls and possibly not make it.

To know, how much she deserves to live,

how out of a ton of people she got this rare disease,

and how stupid I was to even think that sometimes life wasn't worth living.

This was very heart-wrenching. So raw and emotional. Tragic yet so beautifully written!
