If you're waiting for the other shoe to drop,

for me to be vindictive, get revenge,

to come after you and what I'm owed,

you're living a lie

one where I'm a monster,

seeking to suck you dry.

If you're waiting for my love to become conditional,

for me to be the evil, menacing thing you paint me as,

to fulfill your nightmares and wish you pain,

you'll be waiting forever—

one long, disappointing eternity

where I hope you realize eventually that you were wrong.

If you learn to accept the truth,

you will find the love I have held for you,

and maybe you will finally love yourself the same.
