Uncertainty Unfiltered

It must be nice to live unfiltered

To throw caution to the wind

And do what you want, when you want

Without the thought of consequences,

Repercussions or retribution

It must be nice to speak unfiltered,

To say every thought that pops into your head,

No matter how irrelevant or insulting,

While followers hang on in awe and exaltation,

Greeting every word with validation

Instead of ridicule

It must be nice to write unfiltered,

To spill your emotions onto the page

However ugly, unpolished, imperfect they are,

No rhyme, no reason, no doubts…

Doubts, “Is this good enough to win an audience?

Good enough to win money?”

I don't get to live unfiltered,

Routine and rigidity my only companions,

Ordinary yet ordered,

Stifling yet secure

Unfiltered means uncertainty

Uncertainty means empty pockets and empty promises

There's too many depending on me, too much at stake

If I live unfiltered, I lose it all

If I don't, I still lose

Stream of Consciousness
