Inspiration Mirage

Inspiration runs dry like the desert

Ideas scattered to the wind like sand

Pouring through an hourglass

Each grain a tiny yet constant reminder

Of a deadline looming closer and closer,

Piling up one on top of each other until

The weight crushes me,

Suffocating me with expectations

What's that?

Out of the corner of my eye I see

An idea shimmering on the distance

I crawl out from the mountains of sand,

Chasing after the elusive inspiration

Finally close enough to grasp.

It dissolves in my hands -

A mirage.
