From me to me, and everyone in need.

Love,
don’t ever let them stop you
from reaching for the sun.
Don’t ever let them tell you
it’s too hard,
you’re not that strong.
Everything you’re meant to have
will one day be yours,
remember that.

No one ever blames the poppies
for tearing up the asphalt.
And dainty little daisies
will never hear the scolding.
Rather, they are photographed
and praised,
admired
for walkway’s staggering remolding.
❀
No one ever thinks the flower
selfish,
rude,
uncivil.
Instead, they see
the blossom’s strength,
resilience,
opposite of evil.
❀
She is me,
and I am her.
A primeval pull to sun we share.
❀
No demur,
no dispute,
shall invade
my root’s pursuit.
❀
So, darling, one more time
I’ll tell you this:
You share bouquet
and DNA
with poppies, daisies everywhere.
❀
Break through the asphalt barrier
with dogged strength and tenderness.
Push past brick’s impediment,
bloom,
and stretch your stalk to endlessness.
