Ugly World

What this world looks like to the innocent ones.

The world is such an ugly place

Filled with meanness and hate are many

Not all know how ugly they make our world

Do they not see so many staring up into the beauty of space

-

It's not always the ones creating the ugly who see their wrong

Filled with hate and so ignorant, they are

Listen only to the most pliable of news, social media

And will spread the propaganda of evil until they're gone

-

Do they not see so many people looking away to the stars

Only dreams of the heavens comfort many

An unshared dream of a world left better for our young

As we leave behind a world not soon to forget us, we've left too many scars

-

It's such an ugly world to pit neighbors against neighbors, so few friends

Tested by war, famine, and the evils of our own making

Hearts bleed, but bigger pictures are seldom seen by the masses

People look to the stars with hopeful begging that the insanity ends

-

No songs for the heroes in sight

Too many false idols and prophets, as so many listen to their lies

Even the tellers aren't beyond being corrupted by the ugliness of us

And then come those who're falling apart as they too begin to fight

-

Bombs continue, and the death toll rises

Saddness outshines the brightest of statements or grandest miracles

Some want many to stay, so in the darkness, they cannot see

At night, as others look to the stars, they see under their disguises

-

Feel for those so wrought by the guises of money and power

They are the ones who are forsaken

For even their faces tell the story of their own misery

They are the ones to herald the world's final, ugly hour

-

Dammit all to hell, it's an ugly, ugly world

And then we see a small child holding up a dandelion she has just plucked to her mother, & we find hope anew to continue the struggle, not to return evil for evil but to offer the chance to break the cycle by not exacting our revenge. The world is indeed an ugly place, but it is also filled with beauty, & that frightfully so.

You take the good with the bad. The Ying/Yang to keep the world fighting for balance. When we leave this world we won't miss it .
