Tyrannosaurus

Bad lizard or bad press?

Please don't believe everything that you've heard.

The T-Rex is not such a terrible bird.

Though true he is huge, has big teeth, and is scaly,

And has a fierce roar, piercing claws, well just maybe

There's a much nicer side to Tyrannosaurus,

That isn't the image that's often before us.

It could be he likes to bring friends home to tea,

His manner is pleasant and gracious you'd see.

He must have a calm and a much softer side,

Or could it be shyness that leads him to hide

A friendlier nature, outgoing persona,

Behind his more dinosauristic charisma?

It might be he just likes to curl up in bed,

Or sit in his armchair, a book to be read.

Perhaps he is known to help elderly ladies

In crossing the road, or some other gallantries.

Surely his interests extend to philately,

Jigsaws and chequers or just chatting affably?

My good friend Natasha says T could be veggier,

At least in the female form, maternal yet edgier.

Not T-Rex, T-Regina, all nurture and care.

A side of her character you’re just not aware.

Now here is the problem I'd like to address.

The T-Rex has just had a very bad press.

So please give a thought to the myth that's his lot.

Reptilian he may be, a monster he's not.
