James and Oneg’s Challenge #2 Taste the Rainbow

Dragon’s eyes kiss the ring with its piercing gaze,

While everything around is lit ablaze.

Such jewel, precious gem, true brilliance intensified,

All around are completely hypnotized.

Is it fear?

Or is it desire.

A temptation so deep it flares like fire.

Yet both focus remains on the hurricane wings,

That scatter ash and terrorize further.

And on the power held within both beast and bejewelled throne,

Where crumbling skulls of past kings lay,

A decor and lament to that one day.

When once scales and wings ruled the sky,

While knights roamed freely the land by which they abide.

——

Gosh this was hard! James gave me the color ‘emerald’, and all I could think of were dragon eyes and a king’s ring! Not sure how I feel about this one, not gonna lie…

Anyways, this poem is for the second challenge in James and mine’s Summer Writing Extrav-AGAIN-za!

Either choose your own color, or have someone give you one to write a poem about. Use all your senses to describe and visualise that colour. Engage those senses!

The challenge: don’t say the colour that you were given in the poem itself. Synonyms are fine, (For example: can’t say red, can say crimson).

You can find out more about the Summer Writing Challenge Extrav-AGAIN-za below:

Also check out Savannah’s poem, I gave her the colour GREEN 💚

I love this! I'm definitely gonna ask a friend to give me a colour so I can give it a go myself! :)

This was wonderful! Such a good 'Emerald' poem without using the word, the dragon eyes made me think of deep greens, and when I reached "A temptation so deep it flares like fire." - my brain instantly went 'EMERALD!' I don't know why but something about 'temptation flaring like fire' made me think it has to be emerald specifically... Great work! 🩷
