Two Sides of a Journey

A dialogue of hope and despair

I wake to the dawn, feeling hope in the air,

While shadows still linger, I’m caught in despair.

The road lies ahead, full of promise and light,

Yet I see only darkness, no end to the night.

I hear the birds sing of the new day’s embrace,

But silence surrounds me, I find no solace.

Each step that I take feels like freedom anew,

Each step that I take, the weight presses through.

I gaze at the sky, and I dream of the stars,

I stare at the ground, seeing only my scars.

With courage, I stride, toward a future unknown,

With caution, I tread, feeling utterly alone.

Together we’ll face what the journey may send,

Alone in my thoughts, will this sorrow ever end?

But maybe our paths are two sides of one coin,

Perhaps in our trials, our spirits conjoin.

For in every struggle, a strength is reborn,

In unity’s embrace, even the weary are sworn.

So let’s walk this road, hand in hand, heart to heart,

And find in each other the hope to restart.

About the Creator

Mashal Haroon

At 17 years old, I found a way of digging into my soul and drawing my demons in the most beautiful way possible. Poems became my escape and enlightening others of the same treasure, became my goal.
