Two for Christmas

By

Ross E F Lombardi.

.

Way back in 1944...

A handmade gift

He made for "his girl"

A pretty hand painted bauble he made.

.

Back in 1955...

Over Ten years later

That same girl, now his wife

Retuned the favour

And did, back for him,

The exact same.

.

In 1986

Eventually as time can cruely do

Only one of them now, still remain.

Alone now each year.

To hang their old two hand painted pretty baubles.

And bare this sweat bitter pain.

.

Later In 2007

Eventually, They to left this world

The pair of hand painted pretty baubles got separated.

Abandoned, discarded,

Their specialness unknown to anyone else,

No longer kept and now lost.

.

But Mysteriously

All by themselves.

The two pretty hand painted baubles are still found.

Both His and Hers together...

Forever unoticed under some random Christmas tree.

For that one day a year.

To lie next to eachother again.

.

A very beautiful and moving poem. Poems of this kind resemble a fairy tale and should be awarded. Love always finds a way to survive. Always.
