Two Feet Of Snow

Two feet of snow fell without asking permission,

overnight it settled like it meant to stay.

A garden paused mid sentence, mid thought,

everything familiar suddenly holding its breath.

Fence posts vanished up to their shoulders,

paths forgot where they were meant to lead.

The ground looked innocent for once,

no footprints, no arguments, no hurry.

Somebody shared it online, just a moment caught,

not a story about them, not really about anyone.

Just proof the world still does this sometimes,

covers the noise and walks away.

Plants bowed under the weight of quiet,

branches learned how heavy stillness can be.

Nothing complained, nothing tried to move,

even time seemed unsure where to step.

You look at it and feel something ease,

like your own thoughts have been tucked in.

Not beauty trying too hard to impress,

just cold honesty laid out in white.

Tomorrow it will melt into the usual mess,

mud, regret, the return of footprints.

For now it stays untouched and unapologetic,

a garden reminding us how silence looks.
