Two Faces I Wear

Doesn’t everyone wear a mask at some point in life ?

Two Faces I Wear

Doesn’t everyone have two faces—

A light and a dark one?

My light shows family and friends,

“I am okay, I brace the storm.”

It smiles through the thunder,

Masking the shadows beneath.

But my dark face,

It stares back from the mirror,

Revealing fears,

Illusions,

And terrors—

The one that walks with ghosts at night.

I think the dark one is the real me,

While the light is a mask I wear,

To fool myself,

To trick my demons,

Into believing

I am winning this nightmare

That haunts my mind.

But even the light grows weary.

Its cracks begin to show—

A fragile porcelain shell,

Barely hiding the abyss below.

The dark whispers truths I can’t ignore,

It knows me too well—

Every regret, every wound,

Every secret I swore never to tell.

And yet, there is strength in the mask,

A glimmer of hope in the lie.

It lets me stand in the daylight,

When all I want is to cry.

So here I am—two faces as one,

A battle fought in silence,

Between the shadows and the sun.
