Two am

it was late...(way past my bedtime)

By BrenPublished 3 years ago Updated 3 years ago 1 min read

two am

is all it takes

to make

a whole new city

as the traffic slows

the bars close

everyone knows

silly boys and silly girls

once dressed to impress

in big people clothes

litter the streets,

the highways and the trains

two am

is a subtle witching hour

and if it's raining

sometimes

you can see

the magic in the air

two am

in the city

the teams have huddled

the waters have muddied

dull wits deluded

mildly fast fooded

some joy

some tears

some fall

some jeers

two am

in the city

it's all hook ups

and pick ups

and break ups

and punch ups

two am

and now in this city

it's not really tomorrow

and it's not quite today

one version closes

another one opens

like withered petals

it takes the sun

to remember

and then the moon

to promise

another two am

This poem captures the raw energy and chaos of a city at 2am, where anything can happen and the lines between yesterday and tomorrow are blurred.💟💟💟💟💕💕
