My other half, my heart, my soul
You lit up my life, I lit up yours
*
The world around us was dark and cold
But the light between us glowed
*
Against the darkness, we burned bright
And illuminated the world with a pure white light
*
Sprawling across the jet black sky
Two halves of the same flame, unified
*
But soon that flame turned from white to blue
Fears surfaced, tempers flared, chaos ensued
*
Continuing to build, intensity stirring
The light blinding, the warmth burning
*
Till we burned each other, and everything else around
Our love still alive, but our hearts broken and spirits wounded
*
I never thought our light could cause such dismay
But maybe we’re meant to light the world another way
*
Perhaps our light is meant to be spread,
Not together, but apart instead
*
So we split our unified flame into two
The split more painful than the flame burning blue
*
It’s for the best, though it still pains me
To leave behind the other half of me
*
But now, as we go our separate ways,
We each carry our light and warm every space
*
And soon, the balance of warmth and light
Began to finally stabilize
*
You spread your light, and I spread mine
Still stretching and shining across the skies
*
Illuminating the world as we were always meant to
Though it’ll never be the same without you
*
But whether we’re together or apart
You’ll always have a piece of my heart
*
Through thick and thin, we’ll always be connected
Through it all, I’ll be praying you’re protected
*
And maybe one day, we’ll reunite
And maybe then, we’ll glow together just right
*
