Chocolate For Breakfast

It’s Christmas morning, and the house is abuzz

The tree sparkling, the gifts piled around

*

Everyone smiling as we rush down the stairs

Unable to contain our excitement and cheers

*

We run to gather around the tree,

A most exhilarating sight to see,

And dive into each gift with glee

*

The floor soon covered in glittering paper and bows

A beautiful mess forming as our joy overflows

*

And in the midst of this flurry of joy

Our excitement climbs higher as our stockings come down

Filled to the brims with an abundance of treats

Chocolate and candy and all kinds of sweets

*

These saccharine gems, fragrant and bold

An ambrosia of sorts, covered in red and gold

Squealing while we savor and giggle away

Eating chocolate for breakfast in our PJs

*

It’s not something we’d normally do, but hey

Today is far from a normal day

And this breaking away from the usual day to day

Is pretty magnificent, I’d say

*

Full bellies, full hearts, and spirits high

Surrounded by sugar and sparkles and light

Who knew such little things could hold so much magic

Or awaken a togetherness so merry and bright

*

And this enchanting time together, I’d call

Truly one of the greatest gifts of all

*
