ANNA- A poem on Eating Disorder Awareness

By Shanice JasminePublished 5 years ago 1 min read

Anna-

Callous and cold,

Brittle and bold,

A blink of her eyes,

And you'll fall for her lies,

Trapping your heart,

pulling your mind apart,

No one can see her,

She comes from within,

We're all killing ourselves to be thin,

She lives in your head,

Let her take-over and you'll wind up half dead,

If you know the meaning behind this tragic story,

I'm sorry to remid you of a tale so gory,

being down and depressed,

As she is all that's left,

Ripping out chunks of your hair,

Left in the depths of despair,

The numbers you see,

They're not just numbers to me,

They're so much more,

Leaving your eyes burning and sore,

Taking away energy,

Your soul is all that is left to be,

Once so innocent and pure,

I don't think any of us can take this anymore,

My chest feels tight,

I know this isn't right,

She isn't real I know,

I wish i could let go,

My bones are aching,

I can feel my ribcage breaking,

My eyes are black,

There's no turning back,

I can't find the pathway home,

I don't want to go through this alone,

Only a few understand,

So let's make this right,

I'll hold your hand,

We can turn back time,

It's going to be hard,

That's a point I will not disregard,

But let's get through this together,

Because in the end,

Storms always get better,

And wounds will begin to mend.
