Turning Point

The Road Drops Here

Romance, companionship,

Always a man by her side.

Safe in another’s arms,

His desires always satisfied.

*

She lost herself -

She'd gone astray,

Feeling her worth

By what he’d do and say.

*

A shift in her mind

Brought realization

That she was the cause

Of her own frustration.

*

What he said

No longer made her feel shattered.

What he did

Hardly even mattered.

*

She no longer turned to him

For all that she needed.

A garden of new independence

Had been seeded.

*

She still enjoyed being

With her loving man,

But now, she had become

Her own biggest fan.

I like how you started by creating a picture of what would then become the problem. 'Feeling her worth by what he'd do and say' hits me hard. I've been there. She was the cause of her own frustration 🤔 I like how she's not affected anymore. 'A garden of new independence had been seeded' I am rooting for her now. This line I think is my favourite. Becoming her own biggest fan. Must be the greatest feeling ever. That means that now she can't be swayed by everything. It's exhausting. Very relatable. I like that this was carefully structured. There was a beginning, middle and end. Fantastic work as always Julie 🤗❤️
