In a world where hearts have price tags,

Love wears a suit, like a merchant in rags.

“I’ll give you my smile, you’ll give me your time,”

Each whisper a bargain, each dream a mime.

What can you do for me if I love you?

A question half-cherished, half-worn like a shoe.

Can you fill my cup when the nights grow cold?

Or offer sweet comforts, like stories retold?

Promises traded like stocks on the rise,

A dance in the shadows, love draped in disguise.

A kiss on the cheek, then a deal in the dark,

For every affection, a hidden remark.

Unconditional love, a rarity’s gleam,

But here it’s a ledger, where passion can teem.

“I’ll be your sun if you’re my star,”

But only when shining, when things aren’t too far.

What can you bring me if I let you in?

A cushion of kindness, a chance to begin?

Yet when tempers flare, or the joy starts to fade,

The warmth of our love slowly starts to degrade.

I’ll lift you on wings, but you’ve got to provide,

A checklist of needs, where true feelings can hide.

And though I may long for the purest of ties,

The weight of the ledger pulls down to the lies.

Yet in moments of stillness, a flicker appears,

A glimpse of a bond, where unspoken cheers.

For human connection, though tangled and raw,

Can flourish untethered, without needing a score.

So what can you do for me if I love you?

Perhaps in your heart, there’s a bridge we can strew—

Not built upon measuring, nor trading for gain,

But soaring together through joy and through pain.

Let’s cast off the chains of this calculated game,

Find warmth in our chaos, feel passion the same.

For love’s truest form, when stripped to its core,

Is giving and sharing, asking nothing more.
