I catered to your love, but no one knew.
Above the highest hills and skies we flew!
Together, we were completely unafraid,
An unbreakable bond, with lust that only grew.
You dampened the feeling of my broken heart.
Stitched back the pieces that had come apart.
But behind my back, you played me for a fool,
Hiding your wicked trickery from the start.
I will admit that it was fun at first.
A quenching for my soul's unending thirst.
Inside a liquid bubble, you and I.
The sweetest ignorance, until it burst.
Your taste quickly transformed from bliss to fear.
“No, you wouldn’t turn against me, would you, dear?”
But like a moth drawn to a burning flame,
You dazzled me with delight when you were near.
The closer we were, the more violent I fell,
Until I became a vast, shattered shell.
You stole me from myself, my lovely soul,
And buried it beyond the depths of hell.
But I scratched and clawed my way through the earth,
Like a seedling, I pushed through until I emerged.
Climbing through daggers and digging up dirt,
I shed you like snakeskin and powerfully purged.
I’ll never forget that first ray of sun,
When one life had ended, and a new life begun.
To the ridding of you, my foul, fateful friend,
An epic war we have fought, but I finally won.
